I am a vegetarian; used Gardein burger but will use Light Line for more ounces; the flavor was great; I just sprinkled some Chiptole pepper on my food and not used the Tex mex mix. Sour cream instead of mayo. mixed all together with the argula and it was divine. Another recipe that will be in my quick fix dinner.

This was delicious, didn't have any jalapenos at home but substituted with a spoon of home made salsa.

This was a great recipe although my burgers fell apart (flipped them too quick). For lunch the next day I shredded the cheese and diced the avocado and mixed it with the reheated ground beef. It basically made a ground beef smash. I think it was better than the night before!!

I have a question. what do you mean by 2 servings per person? is it like preparing as seen on the plate twice and eating one of the plate for dinner and one plate for next day lunch?

We use taco seasoning instead of Tex-Mex seasoning, works great! And we just used pepper jack cheese slices instead of Mexican cheese slices.

I had this for dinner this evening and thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks for this recipe, very simple and tasty. I had your Tex Mex seasoning already made up in the cupboard as it's one of my favourites, so the whole dish was quick to make and cook. The only extra I added was a good splash of tobasco over the avocado. Looking forward to lunch tomorrow.
Oh and these burgers would be perfect for a barbecue!11

I don't understand how the total one serve is 7g carbs when 1 avocado on average is 16g of carbs? Am I missing something here?

Our recipes list net carbs and avocados are high in fiber, along with healthy fats.

I chopped up the jalapenos and mixed them thru the sour cream and then put the blob on top of the burger so it melted thru. Delish!

So I always do 6 servings when I cook my meals and make a weeks worth. I just used 2lbs of meat and instead of Texas Mexican just used store bought taco seasoning (one packet per lb of meat.) I found some flat lettuce put the toppings on and just ate it as a burger with lettuce instead of buns. One of my favorites so far

Just an FYI when you use store-bought taco seasoning many times it has sugar in it and corn flour which will add carbs.

So true, Mary! It's best to make your own, and it's so easy! Here's our recipe for Tex-Mex seasoning. https://www.dietdoctor.com/recipes/tex-mex-seasoning

I was skeptical that this was not going to be very enjoyable and boy was I wrong. I used the Tex-Mex seasoning that I had made earlier. The flavors of the meat with the cheese, avocado and especially the sour cream (I added the jalapeños to the sour cream) was very delicious. Next time I’m thinking of making it more like a taco stack up, similar to a taco salad. I’ll brown the ground beef and add the seasoning then use the lettuce as a base and add all the toppings on top.

This was really yummy. I was surprised there was no egg in the mixture just the seasoning, it was slightly dry but still very enjoyable. I didn't have pickled jalapenos so I used pickled cucumbers instead and used iceberg lettuce as a cup to load it. I will be making these soon.

That's such a good idea to brown the ground beef. I will try this. I used the lettuce to load the burgers, sooo good.

Shred lettuce, brown ground beef instead of forming patties. Mix olive oil, sour cream and some lime juice in a blender. Shred cheese. Boom, easy keto taco salad.

I,too have made a batch of the Tex-Mex seasoning and the Jerk seasoning as I like spicy food, however bit concerned as to how to count the carbs if using in another dish. Your recipe says 8g carbs and 21g carbs for the jerk but doesn't appear to give a serving size. The amounts given for 1 serving size e.g.1 tablespoon of chilli powder, is certainly more than one serving.
For instances this recipe calls for 1/2 tblspn of the mix per serving and I assume the carb count is included in the total recipe count of 6g however another recipe Tex Mex Casserole calls for 3/4 tbspn per serve ....so a bit confusing. Can DD please help me with understanding these recipes. I need to know how much of these mixes I can use per serve and what the actual carb count is so I may add to other recipes.
Thank youReply: #29

Thank youThe carb count listed for the seasonings is for the entire batch, not just the 1 or 2 tablespoons that you may use in a recipe. And, yes, any seasonings used in our recipes has been added into the carb count for the recipe.

Thank you Kerry, much appreciated. If I add it to another meal - let's say an egg dish and I add 1 tbspn - how many carbs to I add to that meal?

Thank youThe best way to know would be to see how many tablespoons are in the entire batch, then you could divide the number of carbs by the number of tablespoons.

15g g cheese for a single serving seems so small on my plate compared to the picture and my slices are thin. Is this correct for a single serving? Thanks

You can use one whole cheese slice per burger. The way our ingredients need to be listed, we have to put in a weight or a volume.

Loved this meal. My carb munchers loved the spicy burgers, but found the burgers "too solid". They are used to bread crumbs mixed in with the meat. Any ideas on lightening up the mix?

Some people incorporate some crushed up pork rinds into their burgers or meatloaf.

As I keep to the kosher rules I have a few Q
Can I substitute dairy products in meals containing meat, with non dairy products such as mayo or coconut products?
Bacon is also out of the question for me, is it ok to use chicken, lamb or beef in stead?/ SonjaReply: #39

This was a great meal. I thought the leftovers were even better. I preferred the cheese melted over the burger when I had the leftovers though, so I think next time I would add the cheese at the end of cooking the burgers instead of on the side. I also made the avocado salad from the carne asada recipe to go with instead of plain avocados. Thanks for the great recipe and meal!
